The Zone Group facility provides a means for defining commonly occurring groups of zones as an aid to rapid zone selection when editing input data or viewing output.
Each zone group displays the following information:
Name
The name of the zone group, it can contain alphanumeric characters and spaces.
Description
You can enter detailed information about the zone group.
Output (checkbox)
A tick inside this box will indicate that all zones in the zone get will be output to the simulation data file. If the checkbox is empty then none of the zones will be output but they will still be included in the simulation. Where some zones in the zone group have been chosen to be output and others have not, a green square will be visible inside this checkbox.
There is also a table which lists the zones that are members of the selected zone group.
No.
Tas gives each zone a number automatically. This number is sometimes used in control functions and in error messages. The user cannot alter this value.
Name
The name of the zone. This value is edited in the zones section.
Description
Details about the zone. This value is edited in the zones section.
If the 'export zone sets' option was selected when exporting the 3D model, the zone groups folder will contain zone groups based on those zone sets. These zone groups cannot be edited or deleted.
To create a new zone group, right click on the zones folder and choose 'Zone Groups' from the drop down list. To change the name of a zone group, left click on its icon and then left click again, type in a new name and press <Return>.
If you only want to move one zone into a zone group there is a short cut. Left click on the '+' by the 'Zones' folder to reveal all the zones. Place the pointer of the appropriate zone icon in the tree view, hold down the left mouse button, move the pointer to the appropriate zones table within the zone group and release the left mouse button.
Size Heating
If the Size Heating option for the zone group has been set to Design Sizing, Sizing, or No Sizing (this will be carried out either in the HVAC group collection or individually for each zone) then this field will reflect the chosen sizing method, e.g. it will show Design Sizing, Sizing, or No Sizing depending on the selection. If individual zones have been set to size differently, e.g. if some have been set to Design Sizing and other zones set to Sizing, etc., then this field will show "Mixed".
Max Heating Load (W)
Displays the heating capacity of the zone in Watts. It will show 0W before the file is simulated.
Size Cooling
If the Size Cooling option for the zone group has been set to Design Sizing, Sizing, or No Sizing (this will be carried out either in the HVAC group collection or individually for each zone) then this field will reflect the chosen sizing method, e.g. it will show Design Sizing, Sizing, or No Sizing depending on the selection. If individual zones have been set to size differently, e.g. if some have been set to Design Sizing and other zones set to Sizing, etc., then this field will show "Mixed".
Max Cooling Load
Displays the heating capacity of the zone in Watts. It will show 0W before the file is simulated.
Output
If all zones belonging to the group have their Output flag set then this field will show "Yes". If all zones belonging to the group do not have their Output flag set then this field will show "No". Where only some of the zones belonging to a group have their Output flag set then this field will show "Some".
