Zone Table

A zone is defined as a region of the building in which the air temperature and humidity are assumed to be uniform. A zone may be a single space, part of a space or a collection of spaces. Left clicking on the zones folder will display the zones table which has the following columns:

Number

This is the number that Tas has assigned to the zone, and can't be changed by the user. It is sometimes used in automatic control functions and error messages.

Name

The name the user has given to the zone. This is edited on the Zones details window.

Description

Details about the zone. This can be edited on the Zones details window.

Volume

The internal volume of the zone, computed from the data entered via Tas 3D Modeller.

Floor Area

The floor area of the zone, computed from the data entered via Tas 3D Modeller.

Number of Surfaces

The number of surfaces in the zone. This includes walls, ceilings, floors, removed surfaces, window frames, window panes and  internal surfaces.

To apply a such a profile to a zone, left-click on the '+' symbol next to the Internal Conditions folder, move the cursor onto the appropriate Internal Conditions icon, hold down the left mouse button, move the cursor onto a zone in the Zones table, and then release the mouse button.

To apply a profile to multiple zones, you must select the relevant zones in the Zones table, which you can do by holding down the <Ctrl> key on your keyboard and left clicking on them. You can select a range of zones easily enough. Left-click on the first one in the range, hold down the <Shift> key, and then click on the last one. Fixed Convection Co-efficient

Any value entered will be applied to all zone surfaces. This is useful when simulating under-floor heating systems or external spaces. This will be edited on the Zones details window. For more information, you should read the Zones topic.

Output

If the value in this column is 'Yes', then the simulation data file will contain results for this zone. If this value is 'No', then it will not. For more information see the section: Zones.

Left-clicking on a column header will sort the table alphabetically by that parameter. Left-clicking on a column header again reverses the order. You cannot remove or add zones from the 'Zones' table. That is done in the 3D Modeller.

Double clicking on a zone in the table will bring up the individual 'Zone' window, which is described in the section: Zones.

To change the width of a column, left click and hold the left mouse button down while the pointer is over the line that divides the selected column header and the column header to the right of it and then move the pointer to the left or right then release the mouse button.

To change the width of the column so it is best fit, double left click on the line that divides the selected column header and the column to the right of it.

If a zone has at least one 'Internal Condition' profile applied to it, a tick will appear by its icon in the tree view.
