If the display mode is set to Day Types, then you will be able to edit the day type for any day to WEEKDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, etc. The day type will be used to determine the internal conditions for the different days in the year.
Once the different day types are created, they have to applied to the days of the year. To edit the day type for a particular day, use the mouse to select a day type on the Day Types box at the top of the page. Move the cursor to the required day in the calendar grid, and then double-click the left mouse button. The day in the calendar grid will now be coloured according to the colour of the new day type. For example, to specify internal conditions as for a SUNDAY on a bank holiday falling on December 31 (week 53, Monday), select SUNDAY from the Day Types list, and then double-click on December 31 in the calendar grid. This will change the day type for December 31 to SUNDAY.
To edit the day type for more than one day all in one go, the first thing you need to do is select the day type on the "Day Types" box. You will need to highlight the days on the calendar grid to indicate where you want to add the day type. To do this, click on one of the days, hold down the left mouse button, and then drag the mouse either up, down, or across in order to select the other days. Press the Return key on your keyboard to add the day type to all of the days you've highlighted. The colours in the calendar grid will be updated, and the name of the day type, as shown in the grid, will too.
To edit the day type for all Mondays, Tuesdays, etc. within the year, first select the day type on the "Day Types" box. Point to the column header for the relevant day in the week, and then slowly and carefully move the cursor in the up direction. Stop moving the cursor when the icon changes to a down arrow. Now click the mouse to select all of the days in the year that fall on day in the week. You will have to press the Return key on your keyboard to set these days to the selected day type.
Any day type name, including WEEKDAY, SATURDAY or SUNDAY, can be changed to something else by double-clicking on the name, and then overwriting the existing name. Press the Return key on your keyboard to set the new name.
To delete a day type from the list, first remove all references to it in the calendar grid, and then click on the day type name before clicking the Delete button or pressing the Delete key on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can delete the day type without removing the calendar reference, and then set a new day type on the calendar where the deleted day type was previously set.
As well as being able to change the day types directly from the Building Simulator, you can also load and edit pre-saved calendars and save new ones in the calendar database. This is opened by clicking on the Calendar Database button.
The right hand side of the screen functions in the same way as the calendar in the Building Simulator. The difference is the Tree View on the left hand side, which is where the saved calendars are displayed. You can create a new calendar by right clicking on the "Calendars" folder and selecting "Calendar" from the menu. This will create a blank calendar which you can fill in as described above.
Once you have created a new calendar, or if you are using one of the ones already stored in the database, you need to import it into the Building Simulator. This is done by selecting the calendar you want to use from the Tree View of the calendars database, then using the left mouse button to drag and drop the icon to the calendar folder in the Tree View of the Building Simulator. You will not be allowed to drop the calendar on any other part of the Building Simulator folder tree. This technique can also be used to copy calendars from database to database or model to database. When you import a calendar in this manner, the calendar is copied rather than linked to, so any changes made later in the Building Simulator will not affect the calendar stored in the database and vice versa.
