The Building Initialisation Wizard

Use the Building Initialisation Wizard to create new geometry and building data files. Later you can export the geometry to the building data file which the wizard will have generated for you. During the export process information about constructions and internal conditions will be auto-assigned. This feature will reduce the amount of time you will have to spend setting up the TBD.

Click on the "Create Building" button on the Tas Manager to open the Building Initialisation Wizard. When the wizard opens you will be able to enter a building name, create a project directory, and select a template file pre-populated with constructions and internal conditions relevant to your building type and expected use. Select a weather file and the wizard will add it to the TBD for you even before the geometry has been input.

The software comes with TBT files for all building types covered under Part L of the UK Building Regulations, for example "B1 Office and Workshops". You can also create your own templates for non-regulatory projects. Template files contain typical constructions which are used by the Notional building and relevant NCM internal conditions, meaning the wizard is particularly convenient when carrying out a Part L analysis and EPC calculations, but it is not restricted to such projects. In this context, NCM stands for National Calculation Methodology.
